There is no doubt that the outdoor recreation industry is having its day in the sun. According to a study commissioned by the Outdoor Foundation, 53% of Americans ages 6 and over participated in outdoor recreation at least once in 2020, the highest participation rate on record. And new consumers appear to be seeking solace or an endorphin rush in the great outdoors: In 2020, 7.1 million more Americans participated in outdoor recreation than in the year prior.
